Waseya Program

The focus of the Waseya program is on holistic healing, encompassing all aspects of Residents' lives at the Center in relation to their original intentions, arrival and healing plan, Circles, individual meetings, therapeutic sessions, committees, tasks, outings, academic training, tool development and traditional and cultural programs.

The cultural training, educational and tool development components of the Waseya Healing Program are structured so that each Resident can be part of his or her own healing process, progressing along his or her own path through different sequences. All the different spheres of the Resident's life are addressed through the therapy set out in his or her healing plan, and according to the progress made on the Healing Paths.
The Waseya program consists of several components, each of which addresses specific aspects of healing that the Resident needs help and guidance with. Many program components are offered in a Circle setting, where teachings are offered, stories are told and the Resident can open up and share experiences. Other components of the program have a practical side, where the Resident is expected to participate while remaining focused on learning to work and create.

A Taste of Waseskun
Waseskun offers a one-day ETA/UTA program to widen our circle to Indigenous inmates who wish to learn about our program by experiencing it first-hand.
With the approval of Waseskun and their correctional facility, inmates with the appropriate codes and qualifications can come to Waseskun for orientation and introduction to our teachings and ways of doing things. Eligible inmates will be able to participate in Waseskun activities, including the opportunity to attend sweat lodges and other ceremonies, and teachings by Elders.
